By The Midnight Shore

This week at still addINKtive we are showcasing two stamp sets :  By The Seashore and By The Tide.
I also found a great sketch to inspire me at Pals Paper Arts this week. I love square sketches!

By The Seashore is my newest set and I absolutely love it!   There are just so many different ways of using it and so many different stamping techniques to try with it too.  It’s the kind of set I really enjoy playing with, although with all the endless possibilities it was hard for me to actually complete a card. I had all these stamping experiments strewn all over my desk and I had to make myself stop and just finish something.

The blue shell was one of those experiments that didn’t turn out how I intended but I was really happy with the result.  There were some beautiful cards on Splitcoast last week using a technique I hadn’t seen before.  They had used crumb cake, painted white craft ink over the image and then coloured over the top with markers once dry.  I thought I would try it on that shell but I had forgotten that they white embossed their image first.  I stamped in midnight muse and started painted the white ink over it with my aqua painter, well obviously the blue just started running into the white! (Duh!!)  But I realised it looked really effective anyway so I kept going with it.  So anyway I made a new discovery, watercolouring with white ink!  I’m not sure how useful that discovery will be, but at least it works on shells :)

Ingredients :
Stamps : By The Seashore. Vintage Verses
Card : crumb cake. white, print poetry dsp stack
Ink : midnight muse, white, crumb cake
Other : mat pack, gel pen, aquapainter :)

Please take a look at what the rest of the design team have created.  If you have one of these sets I hope you’ll make a new card with it or show us some that you’ve made previously.  Oh and if you don’t own By The Seashore – you definitely should! :)

Thank You Nature

This week at still addINKtive we have a colour and sketch challenge.

You can choose to do both or just the sketch or just the colours.  We’re flexible like that :)

I stamped the bird onto watercolour paper with stazon and used my aqua painter to pick up some raspberry ink and colour the breast.  The rest of the bird was coloured the same way with crumb cake and then I went over the top of that with some wisteria for the feathers.

The sketch really called for a doily but amazingly I have none! I’ve resisted the doily craze so far :) There are doilies for the big shot, pre made ones and doily stamps.  There are also various circle stamps that could be used like a doily, but I don’t have any of those either! So I just went with the scallop trim edge and I also decided to add a sentiment in place of the ribbon. I have just bought some flower trim though and I cut one flower off and used some wisteria ink to dye it.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Nature walk, en francais, curly cute
Card : white, wisteria, basic grey, watercolour
Ink : stazon, white, wisteria, crumb cake, raspberry
Other : big shot, lacy brocade ef, stripes ef, scallop trim punch, festive paper piercing pack, flower trim, labels framelits

Please take a look at what the very talented design team at still addINKtive have created this week …. and please play along with us.

Only One

This week at still addINKtive we are showcasing 3 Sale-a-bration sets : Madison Avenue, Feeling Sentimental and Vintage Verses.

I have used Vintage Verses.  The sentiments in this set are just beautiful!

One of my daughters teachers is unwell and hasn’t returned to work yet this year. We thought it would be nice to send her a card and I had originally thought of making a get well card or thinking of you but then I noticed  this sentiment and thought it would be perfect.  She is a very special teacher and we wanted to let her know how much she is appreciated and missed.

I decided to use the still addINKtive colour combo from a couple of weeks ago, pink pirouette, river rock and suede.

Ingredients :

Stamps : Vintage verses, Flowering flourishes

Card : white, suede, pink pirouette, river rock

Ink : river rock, suede

Other : corner rounder punch, white grosgrain, houndstooth ef, delicate designs ef, vintage faceted buttons, pearls, big shot, boho punch, shimmer mist champagne

Please take a look at what the rest of the design team have made this week and join us :)

Vintage Seashore

This week at still addINKtive we have a sketch and colour challenge for you.

You might choose to do them both but you can just choose the colours or just the sketch.  Whatever you get inspiration from!

I decided to use the 2 newest editions to my stamp shelf, Vintage Verses and By the Seashore.

I was looking at cards made with the Seashore set and came across a great tutorial by Sharon Field for a technique called Faux Cheesecloth.  She even used bashful blue in one of her samples and I just had to give it a try.  It looks like netting (or cheesecloth) and is super easy yet very effective.

All the stamping on this card is clear embossed espresso.  The middle shell is stamped onto crumb cake but the other two are stamped onto vanilla.  I sponged a little crumb cake onto the shells, added a few white pen highlights and cut them out.

Ingredients :

Stamps : By the Seashore, Vintage Verses, woodgrain

Card : vanilla, crumb cake, white, bashful blue, espresso, first edition dsp

Ink : espresso, crumb cake, versamark

Other : big shot, top note, labels framelit, clear embossing powder, white embossing powder, linen thread

The design team have created some really beautiful cards again this week.  I hope you’ll take a look and play along with us.
